She tried to be as good as her.
She tried to be as smart as her.
She was determined to find out what was special about her.
She tried to change herself to be just like her.
Just one step away from finding her secret,
she realized that she had lost herself in the maze.
Very often, we try so hard and focus on being like others, that we forget what God has gifted us with and ask for something that is far lesser than what we're blessed with. Remember, each one of us is as unique as everyone else. There can be no one like us!

The never-ending maze ruins us stealing our joy and time.
ReplyDeleteShort and effective Ashwini.
Joy always,
Susan
Exactly Susan, It's definitely not worth it at all.
DeleteUndoubtedly, each of us is unique:)
ReplyDeleteIndeed Sir :-)
DeleteI personally think there's nothing wrong with being jealous of people who you accept are better than you. I mean, why not? It can help a person become better and strive for something which they haven't before.
ReplyDeleteIt just needn't consume you. That's it.
As long as it is not destroying our core, but just trying to make us a better person, it is fine. I agree with you. But as you said, once it starts consuming you, thats when the problem starts.
DeleteWe can take some inspiration from others... Sometimes it comes in the form of jealousy. As long as jealousy leads to constructive actions, it's fine. But when people get into destructive actions, there is something very wrong with them. Most probably extremely jealous people end up wasting a lot of their own time.
ReplyDeleteDestination Infinity
Yes it has to be constructive. Else it might even make us forget who we originally were :-)
DeleteI believe that is one of the most significant info for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd i am glad reading your article. However should commentary on few basic things,

Most of us have this failing.Very nicely written,Ashwini.
ReplyDeleteMost of us, fall prey to it, before we realize what we're getting ourselves into. Thank you KP Sir :-)
DeleteCrisp but very effective and spot-on, Ash. If people realize this, then there would be no jealousy.
ReplyDeleteKeep blogging! :)
If only people realized it. Thank you :-)
DeleteLoved it! =)
ReplyDeleteThank you :-)
Delete"Jalo nahin rees karo !" is the advice given by some wise men- maybe because jealousy is a very negative personality trait. At the same time, it is also true that blind imitation leads us nowhere. It i9s well said " Kavva chala hans ki chal, apni bhi bhool gaya."
ReplyDeleteNice post, Ashwini !
Thank your Sir. Yes, as long as we know where we're heading to, it is fine, But Blind imitation would definitely not get us anywhere.
DeleteShort and straight to the point. We all are unique, we have to make good use of what we have and not try to be something we are not. Loved the message. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Akshay :-). Why go looking all around the world, when the best gift is already given to us?
DeleteSo true, Ashwini...in order to please someone or be like someone, one loses himself in the process...crisp and neat..
ReplyDeleteAs always. Thank you :-)
DeleteSurprised to see a short one from you!
ReplyDeleteThe first word that comes to mind on hearing the letter 'J' is jealous. Short article, but strong and to the point.
Thank you Miku :-), I guess even I was surprised when I realized I could convey my thoughts in just over a few words :-)
DeleteYou are absolutely right. Jealousy is the root cause for many bad things. You have written very well and crisp. Good one.
ReplyDeleteThank you :-)
DeleteYes indeed.

very true, by not giving importance to what we have and what we are, we are disrespecting even god who made us so..
ReplyDeleteExactly my sentiments! Thank you Renu :-)
DeleteWow Very true... those lines are awesome. Exactly depicts human tendency...
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written Ashwini...
Thank you Ramya :-)
DeleteJealousy is human tendency and a distraction I think. More we try to live others life, more we move away from what we were supposed to be. I am sure many senior citizens will be repenting the way they lived others lives.. Nice one Ashwini :)
ReplyDeleteWe are what we are, we can never be someone else. The poem resonates how important it is to preserve your identity.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Wish people realize that!
